വിദേശമലയാളികള്‍ക്ക് ഒരു സദ്വാര്‍ത്ത

അമേരിക്കയിലും യൂറോപ്പിലും ഉള്ള മലയാളികള്‍ അവരുടെ കുട്ടികള്‍ മലയാളം പഠിക്കണമെന്ന് വളരെ താല്‍പ്പര്യപ്പെടുന്നുണ്ട്. എന്നാല്‍ അതിന് വേണ്ട പഠനസഹായികള്‍ പലപ്പോഴും ലഭ്യമല്ല. ആ കുറവ് പരിഹരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് അമേരിക്കയില്‍ അധ്യാപകരായിരുന്ന ഈ ദമ്പതിമാര്‍ മൂന്നു പുസ്തകങ്ങള്‍ രചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

ജോണ്‍ കുന്നത്ത്, ലിസി ജോണ്‍ എന്നിവരാണ്‌ രചയിതാക്കള്‍. ആഫ്രിക്കയിലും അമേരിക്കയിലും ഏറെക്കാലം അവര്‍ ഭാഷാധ്യാപകരായിരുന്നു.
 ഇതില്‍ ഒരു പുസ്തകം പഠിച്ച ഒരു വിദേശി ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുന്നു:

ഇംഗ്ലിഷ് അറിയാവുന്നവര്‍ക്ക് വേണ്ടിയാണ് ഈ പുസ്തകങ്ങള്‍. മലയാള ശബ്ദങ്ങള്‍ എപ്രകാരം ഇംഗ്ലിഷ് ശബ്ദങ്ങളോട് സമാനമാണെന്നും വ്യത്യസ്തമാണെന്നും വിശദീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. മൂന്നു ലെവലുകളില്‍ ഉള്ളവരെ ഉദ്ദേശിച്ചാണ് മൂന്ന് പുസ്തകങ്ങള്‍.
 
തുടക്കക്കാര്‍ക്ക് വേണ്ടിയാണ് ആദ്യത്തെ പുസ്തകം. അക്ഷരങ്ങള്‍ എഴുതി പരിശീലിക്കുവാനുള്ള ഒരു വര്‍ക്ക്ബുക്ക് ആയാണ് അത് രൂപകല്‍പന ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്. 
 Malayalam Alphabet Practice Workbook by John Kunnathu and Lissy John is very well organized with mainly English speaking people/kids in mind. Equivalent English sound for all vowels and consonants with a practice page is given for each letter. To help beginners, arrows are shown in the direction in which each letter is written. It also covers stressed consonants, consonant combinations, short form of consonants and consonants without a vowel. The book ends with some common words and sentences which also give a short history of the Malayalam language. The book provides a plan to learn the language in 6 weeks. The Kunnathu’s experience as educators is very well displayed in the structure and the content of the book. I highly recommend this book for all beginners. (Review by Shija Abraham, Houston Texas)

അടുത്ത ലെവലാണ് മൂന്നാമത്തെ പുസ്തകം. യേശുദാസ് ആലപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് വേണ്ടിയുള്ള പത്ത് കഥാഗാനങ്ങളെ അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കിയുള്ള പത്ത് പാഠങ്ങളാണ് അതിന്‍റെ ഉള്ളടക്കം. യൂട്യുബില്‍ നിന്ന് ആ ഗാനങ്ങള്‍ കേള്‍ക്കുന്നതും, അവ ആലപിക്കുന്നതും, അവയെ അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കിയുള്ള എക്സര്‍സൈസ് ചെയ്യുന്നതും പാഠത്തിന്‍റെ ഭാഗമാണ്.
