And thank you for the suggestion.
In my understanding, "deva" is another form of "daivame" just as we say "yahe" for "yahove". No word has a meaning in itself. A word is like an empty container. The same cup can be used to hold coffee, tea, water, or milk. The meaning we give to a word is its meaning. If we use the word "deva" to mean "daivame" , that is its meaning. That is how I mean it. In a song we have to make such variations for the sake of rhythm and tune. Although Hindus use this word to hold a certain meaning, we have the freedom to use the same word to hold another meaning. That is how the same sound or word may have different meanings in different dialects or languages.
Like to hear your thoughts about this.
Regards,
JohnJohn Kunnathuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00253697976799503567noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1771731370168308804.post-26634535916972574492010-08-20T03:20:21.557+05:302010-08-20T03:20:21.557+05:30I feel very much blessed that I did not miss your ...I feel very much blessed that I did not miss your message in the SOCM Bulletin, as I could see the song from the web but there was some difficulty due to the antiquity of the software I am using. But still I have copied the song as a whole.

I have sung the song to myself and I felt touched by the Heavens. May Rooho Khadeezo strengthen and guide you to render into verse the entire book of 150 psalms in different liturgical tunes which can be sung in different styles as per the ekkaro scheme and publish the same soon.

In this context I may suggest that the word De-van be changed to Moraan or Naadhan. Those belonging to other religions are willing to refer to our Lord Jesus not as God but as
Ye-zude-van. But a de-va in the Indian thought is only a lowly creature running for protection from Asuras. It is very bad to call our Lord De-van or De-ve-zan. We must call him Naadhan / Karthav or Sarve-zan. De-va deyacheytheetaname is in bad taste; it should be either Moraan or Nadhaa. My humble submission is that the word de-van is never used by we the Christians to refer to our Lord Jesus

With respectful regards;
Yours in Him
V T JohnV.T.
